Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome Most patients with irritable bowel syndrome will complain of a mixture of the following complaints:

Constipation, diarrhoea, episodes of both constipation and diarrhoea, Abdominal Bloating and pain, foul wind, bad breath, offensive and / or foul-smelling stools. Adverse reactions to foods ranging from tiredness to pain to sweating to brain fog etc. Almost all irritable bowel sufferers can be helped substantially. There will be a small few who cannot.

We use a clinical approach combining laboratory investigation, treatment of persistent low-grade gut infections, identification of food allergy or intolerances and possible gastric acid or pancreatic enzyme deficiency. We usually use Doctors Data Laboratory in the US for stool culture and examination.

It is my experience that most patients can be significantly helped by a mixed nutritional and medical approach.

Many patients suffering from irritable bowel syndrome are also suffering from ‘leaky gut syndrome’ which may be sapping their energy and drastically reducing their quality of life.

"...I am not aware of any other practice quite like the Drummartin Clinic. Its function is to make its patients feel well again and give them back their lives and I feel that it definitely succeeds in achieving this."
